Our People

We, the people of St. Joseph Parish, located in Somers Point, NJ, are a community composed of 2,000 middle class, hard-working families extending throughout three towns. Though surrounded by resort communities, we have a stable, year-round population. Many members are of European descent, though there is a growing Asian representation. Casinos, the medical profession, and a community hospital are predominant employers.

Our Beliefs

We believe that the Eucharist is the source and center of our lives as children of an unconditionally loving and merciful God. In response to the gift of faith and through the power of the Holy Spirit, we are inspired to live as disciples of Christ. We believe that each member is an integral part of our community of faith and, through their unique gifts, furthers the growth of the Kingdom of God.

Our Purpose

By virtue of our baptism into the Risen Christ and inspired by His Spirit, we are called to glorify God through the celebration of the Eucharist and our sacramental life. We strive to continue the mission of Jesus as we spread the good news of God's love and presence by our words and actions. We promote a strong sense of community and belonging. We reach out in compassion and service to meet the needs and sufferings of all God's people. In the spirit of enthusiastic evangelization, we commit ourselves to lifelong religious education, sowing and tending the seeds of faith and tradition from childhood through adulthood.
