Religious Education Schedule 2008-2009

It is with great joy and excitement that we welcome you to the new religious year. We look forward to working together - the parish, the catechists, and parents and guardians all have an important role in the formation of our children's spiritual growth. These roles support and depend on each other. Let us pray for each other throughout the year, always remembering our goal of helping the children discover God's love for them. "Please remove and post this first page in a prominent place in your home as it shows our schedule for the year," as well as states our policies and guidelines. You will need to refer to it throughout the year, please call us. 927 3302 ext.24

Please Read and Review the following information: IMPORTANT OVERALL PROGRAM POLICIES

  • * No child will be dismissed early, for any reason, without a signed and dated note from parent/guardian. If it becomes necessary to leave early, the child will be taken to the office by the aide to wait for the parent/guardian at the time indicated on the note. No child is permitted to meet a parent/guardian in the parking lot-please come to the office.
  • * Students are expected to be prompt for all Religious Education sessions. Three late arrivals will result in one absence which will be applied to the five maximum absences allowed according to our guidelines.
  • * Our program is gradual and continuous. It is necessary for each child to attend formal classes every year, just as he/she does for secular education.
  • * Attendance is extremely important. Perfect Attendance Awards are given at the end of December and April. Perfect Attendance is expected. Only five absences are permitted. Make-up work must be completed before enrollment for the next year's class level will be accepted,
  • * Students are expected to come to class each week with their textbooks (In some cases, teachers do not send home textbooks). Families are asked to help the catechist by making the students responsible for their books. If a book is lost, and not brought to class for 2 consecutive class periods, a new one must be purchased. Please understand that there is a $15.00 charge to replace a book.
  • * In case of inclement weather, we try to have the cancellation of Religious Education classes announced at the Somers Point and Egg Harbor Township Schools. In addition, cancellations will be announced over television stations WPVI, WOND and www.6abc.com and our new computer system will also inform you.
  • *Our Religious Education Program follows the Somers Point Public School Calendar. .
